Hospital Direct’s disposable Handy Strap – a back support for bed sitting – enables carers to safely help patients into sitting positions.

Supporting patients into sitting positions can be heavy work for caregivers and even lead to staff injuries. However, our Handy Strap – a fantastic support for sitting up in bed – vastly reduces this risk. Carers can use the versatile strap to help patients sit up in both beds and chairs without physically handling them. They can also use the strap to support a patient’s legs as they swivel in or out of bed. Not only does this prevent carer injury, but the effective strap also helps patients feel safe and comfortable.

Two carers can insert the strap behind a patient, which should slide into place easily. They can then use the handles on either side of the strap to guide the patient forwards.

This version of the Handy Strap is considered disposable or single patient use. It is not made for longevity, but an excellent solution or short-term use. Perhaps for someone recovering for surgery. For longer term use we also manufacture a washable version.
