Hospital Direct’s Mortuary Body Sling takes the difficulty out of lowering the deceased into coffins.

Previously, morticians had no option other than to use expensive Repo sheets or outdated patient handling products to lower their deceased into coffins. But morticians always struggle to retrieve this expensive equipment from coffins afterwards for re-use. That’s why Hospital Direct has designed and independently tested these innovative Mortuary Slings, which overcome the cost and challenges associated with this handling process – all while upholding dignity for the deceased.

The Mortuary Body Sling makes it possible to safety lower the deceased into a coffin with ease then slide out each sling afterwards. Simply feed a sling through each handle of your transfer sheet or directly underneath your body bag and attach each loop to hooks on your overhead flat lifting gantry system. Thanks to its heavy-duty polyester webbing, the Mortuary Slings are strong enough to transfer and lower a bariatric person weighing over 500kg. All the slings CE marked and conform to BSEN 1492-1:2000.

The Mortuary Slings are available in packs of 5 in two lengths – 150cm and 200cm. We recommend using the five slings together with an overhead flat lifting gantry system/hoist with a five-point lifting attachment.
