SIBA™ – what is it? And why do I need it?

Feedback for SIBA™ has far exceeded our expectations. We were always confident about its benefits for in-bed patient handling and comfort. However it would appear users are widely considering it a staple essential.

So what is SIBA™?

SIBA™ is an acronym of Satin In Bed Assistance. Simply put, a collection of cleverly designed base and draw sheets, created specifically for patient comfort and single-carer handling.

Base sheets

The base sheets have evolved thanks to extensive research and testing. Our secret ingredient is the development of our clever satin fabric. The carefully manufactured weave enables slide to left and right. As a result patients can be slid easily from left to right by a healthcare professional, rotate themselves from left and right for easier repositioning, whilst being restricted from going up and down. This means they are able to sit relaxed in the profile (seated) position, without straining their torsos trying to stop themselves from sliding down.

In addition, the satin panels only cover the main central area of the bed base. The rest is made using our unique soft polycotton, which is widely considered the best cotton brake fabric on the market and prevents the patient from sliding off the edge of the bed. The base sheets are available in single through to king size, and with a choice of three different fitting methods.

2-way or 4-way top draw sheets

We have also developed a range of SIBA™ 2-way or 4-way top draw sheets. With a polycotton top panel and satin under-panel, they are designed to be placed directly under the patient between their shoulders and their hips, or can cover the full length of the bed depending on patient requirements. Used with the SIBA™ base sheets, the two satin surfaces together give carers a high level of slide from left to right and up and down. The draw sheets are also available with handles for those with the added benefit of a hoist.

We also have more information on the whole SIBA™ range, including videos of how they work here…

We are incredibly proud and excited about SIBA. If it is something that is of any interest do get in touch – we would love the opportunity to talk to you about it.

My wife has terminal cancer and has come home to us so we can care for her. The slide sheets provided by our hospital trust were poor quality and made it so painful for my wife to be moved. Our Occ therapist recommended these satin sheets which we are now using. It makes moving my wife so much easier and pain free for her. Excellent customer service on sales desk who kept eye open for order to ensure speedy despatch.
Thank you.
