Satin™ Sheet System / Satin Bed Sheets
Hospital Direct’s SIBA™ Pillowcase works wonders as part of a satin™ sheet system, enabling patients to turn in bed throughout the night.
Some patients find in-bed turning manoeuvres uncomfortable, especially as it can be difficult to move your head while a carer turns your body. But the SIBA™ satin pillowcase co-ordinates with our SIBA™ (Satin In-Bed Assistance) satin sheet system and slides effortlessly over the satin sheet’s slippery panel. This makes turning in bed easy for patients, whether they are turning independently or with assistance from a carer.
The pillowcase has a duck-egg blue, checked, polycotton top to keep users cool and comfortable. Meanwhile, the pillowcase’s satin underside glides against the satin sheet to allow easy positioning – up, down and side to side. The pillow moves during turning manoeuvres to make repositioning more comfortable, perfect for patients who are turning themselves or only have support from one carer. Comfort aside, the satin pillowcase also reduces the risk of nerve damage that can be caused through inappropriate handling of the head and neck.
Once re-positioned, carers or patients can secure the pillow by tucking the case’s cotton flaps under the pillow. Carers can even use these extended cotton flaps as ‘handles’ when repositioning a patient, enabling good grip and control when moving the pillow.
This pillowcase is available in one size to fit standard UK pillows. However, as with our SIBA™ satin sheet systems, we also offer a bespoke size service for those with non-standard pillows.
